When you change the DVD rip folder's extension to ".dvdvideo", the Finder will recognize it as a bundle and the icon will change. At that point, you can simply double click on the icon to start the movie in the Apple DVD Player program.

And by the way, if you haven't seen it and you're looking for a bad ass cartoon to watch, go buy some of the Samurai Jack DVDs.
